It's not a secret. Lots of messaging apps have became rivals, and competed for a while now. WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, or Line, have been proving to be the real deal, but which one is better and why?

Recently, WhatsApp release a huge update of its terms and conditions that included user data. The update, however, is now the main subject of a debate: WhatsApp or Telegram?

Here is what you need to know.

WhatsApp vs Telegram: Groups

Both WhatsApp and Telegram let us create groups or channels. We can easily send any messages, make video or voice calls on a group. But one of the messaging apps lacks something.

WhatsApp can have only a maximum of 256 participants, while Telegram is sky-rocketing with its sleek groups of 200,000 members!

WhatsApp vs Telegram: Multi-device

Not to disappoint someone, but this one goes to Telegram as well.

WhatsApp and Telegram are both available on PC, but that's not all. Telegram seems to know its audience and chooses to always bring the best features.

The app came up with a feature dubbed multi-device support. We can use it to chat on our PC or laptop, even if our Internet connection is dead. 

On the other hand, WhatsApp limits our PC messaging experience. Our smartphones must be nearby and the Internet connection always steady. 

WhatsApp vs Telegram: Secret Chats

Secret chats are something only Telegram users can enjoy. The feature isn't available on WhatsApp, but developers promised to work on something similar.

WhatsApp vs Telegram: Compressed Media

Compressed media is really an issue on WhatsApp. Many users complained of compressed pictures and video quality for quite a while now.

On the other hand, Telegram wins again thanks to its features! The app allows us to compress the media or just send the files as they are.

  

Conclusions: Which One is Better?

Both WhatsApp and Telegram come with amazing and genuine features and other settings, but there are still some bugs yet to be solved.

It's already known that collecting user data is something both apps do. WhatsApp, however, does it like nobody else.

The app collects more user data than Telegram. From contacts, location, email id, user content, ad data, to payment info.

If collecting user data isn't something you don't support, then Telegram is the best choice for you. The app claims to collect only device IDs, phone numbers, and email addresses.

Until further observations and conclusions, we can say both apps are worth our attention. Of course, there are many differences, but that doesn't mean the messaging experience won't be what you're looking for.
